Andrew M. Levinsky
Born: October 25, 1969
Died: November 20, 2021
Andrew Levinsky passed this past Saturday November 20, 2021, he was born in DeKalb, IL on October 25th, 1969, and he was the son of Marvin and Jane
(Seymour) Levinsky. He married Mike Anderson on October 31, 2013, in San Diego, CA.
He was a striking baby with piercing blue eyes and a crop of dark curly hair. Of course, everyone thinks that their child is special, but it can be said without hesitation that Andrew was a truly unique soul from the beginning.
Sometimes the world can be unkind to a gentle and sensitive spirit like Andrew's, and Andrew faced many difficult challenges in his life. But Andrew was also fortunate to know great love; from his dear caretakers Darlene and Jerry Wiggins, from lifelong friends, from his family, and in his wonderful husband Mike, who describes Andrew as a truly kind, hardworking, and good person - the kind that is rare to come by.
Andrew was also brave. He was brave enough to pursue a degree in horticulture at a time when most people believed that flowers were not for boys. He was brave enough to embrace his true identity, even though it may not have been easy, convenient, or accepted by others. He was brave enough to leave Illinois to pursue a new life in California, so different from what he had known.
Andrew was a private person who above all else wanted to be cared for and to show care for others. He did this in his own quiet way through small acts of kindness. He never missed a birthday card in the mail or the opportunity to make people smile through a beautiful floral arrangement or a funny text message GIF. Andrew enjoyed interior decorating, home remodeling, gardening, trying new recipes, and keeping busy with his passion for floral and interior design. He took great care and attention to make each of their houses a beautiful home, spending endless hours designing and planning every last detail.
He also loved to spend his time browsing garage sales and antique malls looking for a bargain or a treasure, and so, perhaps it can console us to know that Andrew left us doing something he loved with someone he loved.
Although Mike and Andrew had moved to Pennsylvania due to a work reorganization, they looked forward to a time when they could return to San Diego, a place where Andrew had genuinely felt at home. Andrew left us too soon, unable to fulfill the final chapter of that dream and many others, and that is our great misfortune. And yet, against all odds, Andrew did find the love, care and peace living the life he sought. For this we can all be thankful.
When we remember Andrew we should be reminded of our human resilience, be encouraged to care for others, and be inspired to remain strong and do our best, no matter what life may send our way. Andrew, you will always be in our hearts and minds.
