Dennis P. Stover, 81, of Sycamore died Monday, September 12, 2016, at the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.

He was born January 7, 1935, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, the son of Alva and Margaret (Sayre) Stover. He married Ruth L. Adkins on December 20, 1956. Dennis was a ready mix truck driver for many years. Over the years he worked for Redi Redi Mix, Floit Ready Mix, and Huntley Ready Mix before retiring in 1992.

Dennis enjoyed stock car racing, first as a driver/owner and then later as a spectator. He enjoyed the races at Sycamore Speedway, Freeport Raceway, Rockford Speedway, Grundy County Speedway, LaSalle Speedway, and Eldora Speedway in Ohio. He spent many happy hours at their cabin near Fort Atkinson, WI, camping, fishing, and boating. Mostly he loved the times with his five dear grandchildren. We will always remember him chewing his snuff everywhere he went.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years; four children, Karen Sue Dobson of Scales Mound, Vicki Grubbs, Sandy Contreras of Sycamore, and Randy (Lori) Stover of Genoa; five grandchildren, Paul (Sammi) Wilkinson of Houston, TX, Austin Contreras of Sycamore, and Brooke, Brianna, Brandi Stover of Genoa; one brother, Charlie (Mae) Stover of Point Pleasant, WV; four sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his eldest brother, Robert "Smoke" Stover; and numerous extended family members.

His family would like to thank the nurses and aides at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center and Kishwaukee Hospital for the wonderful care that they provided. We would also like to thank DeKalb County Hospice for their compassion.

His visitation will be on Saturday, September 17, from 1:00 to 4:00pm at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178. Luncheon will follow at Stone Prairie Club House 1160 Grace Dr., Sycamore, IL 60178
