Fred E. 'Freddie' Lemon

Fred E. "Freddie" Lemon, 88, of Genoa, Ill., died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, at home, surrounded by family.
Born Dec. 4, 1932, in Elgin, the son of Fred A. and Sara F. (Lowell) Lemon, Fred married Joan Nagel on Sept. 17, 1960, in Franklin Park.
A veteran of the US Army, Fred received a bachelor's degree from University of Colorado-Boulder. Through his company, Glessner Corp., he was a power transmission sales rep, beginning in 1969 and retiring in 1991.
Fred enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with family, especially at the cabin in Northern Wisconsin. He was a Green Bay Packers super fan, and loved playing Crazy 8s with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as being a true gentleman, as honest, hardworking and driven, but quiet, and a close friend.
Fred is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Sue (John) McCluskey of Genoa and Beth (Dan) Schwarz of Kingston; and grandchildren, Katie and Matthew McCluskey.
He was predeceased by his parents; and sisters, Virginia Hopp and Carol Marble.
The family thanks Unity Hospice, especially Denise, for their care of Fred.

Memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at Olson's Cooper Quiram Chapel, 202 E. Main St., Genoa, with a Celebration of Life to be announced at the visitation. Masks are required.
