Dorothy McCrum Obituary

Dorothy (Johnson) McCrum, 94, of Hopedale died Friday, May 14, 2010, in the Medway Country Manor, Medway. Mrs. McCrum was born June 21, 1915, in Lynn the daughter of the late William Stickney Johnson and Evelyn Ames Johnson Clifford. She had been a resident of Hopedale for nearly 70 years. Dorothy was an exceptional mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed needlepoint, rug hooking and knitting. She was also an avid reader. Dorothy was a member of the Union Evangelical Church in Hopedale and active with the churchs Tri-Amity. She was a member of the local travel club. Mrs. McCrum is survived by one son; Milton William McCrum and his wife Cindy of New Castle, Maine, two daughters, Sandra Ames McCrum Smith and her husband Paul of Falmouth and Nancy Rachel McCrum Speroni and her husband Jerry of Raleigh, N.C., and one sister, Lynn Davison and her husband Bob of New Hampshire and Florida. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tracy Anderson and her husband Bob, Laurie Armstrong and her husband Rick, Kelly McCrum and her husband Matt, Andrew Smith and his wife Laurie, Katherine Smith Hopewood and her husband Andrew, Robert Speroni and Elisabeth, Marc Speroni and Holli, nine great-grandchildren; Lindsay Schmitt, Megan Anderson, Alison Anderson, Ryan Smith, Sean Smith, Daniel Smith, Jacob Speroni, Hanah Speroni and Madden Hopewood and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Irene Eden, Elaine Lowe and her former husband, Lloyd G. McCrum. Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association for Research (www.alz.org). Arrangements under the direction of Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, Milford, www.bumafuneralhome.com.

My condolences to Dot's family , I have wonderful memories of Dot from her time at Draper Place, she was always ready for any of the activities, especially bingo and she also loved the sing-alongs -- Dot & Edith taught me about TRUE FRIENDSHIP. Thanks, Dot, for touching my life. Terry Foose

Mrs. McCrum was also a wonderful Camp Fire Girl leader.....she had the patience of a saint...a wonderful woman. My deepest condolences to her family.
