John Sheehy Obituary

John M. Jack Sheehy, 80, of Medway, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham. He was the husband of Constance M. (Dalton) Sheehy who died on Sept. 12, 2010. Born in Hopewell, Va. on Aug. 12, 1930, he was the son of the late E. Morgan and Catherine (Driscoll) Sheehy. Mr. Sheehy was a resident of Medway since 1966. He graduated from John Marshall Prep School in Richmond, Va. and Boston University with a Bachelors Degree in Economics. Mr. Sheehy was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He attained the rank of sergeant and received the Korean Service Ribbon with 3 Stars, the United Nations Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and a Korean Presidential Unit Citation. Mr. Sheehy started the Commercial Insurance Exchange in RI in 1975 and worked there until retiring in 2004. He had previously worked at American Mutual Insurance Co. and also for the F.B.I. for 2 years during the late 50s. Mr. Sheehy was an active member of the Medway Democratic Town Committee and a member of the DAV. He enjoyed fishing and his boat and loved his faithful companion Rebel. Mr. Sheehy also cherished time spent with his family. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Bruno and her husband John of Cumberland, R.I. and Caroline Guyette and her husband Scott of Medway and two granddaughters, Kayla and Denise. He was the brother of the late Edward D. Sheehy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Tuesday, Feb. 1, from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Josephs Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery in Medway. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 331 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.

Pleae accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of Jack. We attended John Marshal and were members of E Co in the late 1940's. We also went into the Marine Corps together in Aug 1950. He had a great sense of humour.
