Phyllis Iris Skogen

1937-2026

Phyllis Iris Skogen, 88, of Isle, MN passed away peacefully at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN on Sunday, February 8, 2026. She was born at home on June 20, 1937 to Lloyd and Iris (Ray) Johnson.

Phyllis met her future husband, Lyle, at church and at school. They were married in 1956 at Opstead Baptist Church after Lyle's two year service in the Army. Shortly after that they moved to the metro area and she became a homemaker and worked part-time in a nursing home. While living there they had four children, Linda, Lyle Jr., Susan and Leslie.

In 1971 they moved north to Isle. She helped Lyle with farming and then Mark was born. After he went to school, she went to work at Lakeland Industries until her retirement. She was a member of the Isle Baptist Church for 29 years and the Opstead Baptist Church for 24 years. They loved working with the kids and worked with the Boys and Girls Club in the cities and with the AWANA program here in Isle.

She moved into Lake Song Assisted Living in April of 2025. She made some nice friends and was there until she got sick. After a short hospital stay she was moved to Pierz Villa for rehab where she never regained her strength. We want to thank all the caregivers that took care of her. She loved them all.

Her greatest joy in life was her faith in Jesus Christ, and her family was especially important to her. She enjoyed fishing and gardening, and family picnics were a must!

Phyllis is survived by five children; Linda (Kim) Paulsen, Isle; Lyle Jr (Diana) Skogen, Isle; Susan (Rayborn) Shiyou, Mississippi; Leslie (Butch) Karg, Isle; Mark (Cameo) Skogen, Isle; She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; Arlo (Heather) Paulsen, Isle; Erik Paulsen, Isle; Nicholas (Jenny) Skogen, Isle; Katie Harris, Isle; Tony (Denna) Shiyou, Isle; Vanessa (Chad) Spence, Mississippi; Heather (Ben) Sanftner, Mora; Hanna Karg, Mora; Neil Karg, Colorado; Tristan (Katie) Skogen, Isle; Willow (Jonathan) Nelson, Cloverdale; Levi (Leah) Skogen, Onamia; Sisters-in-law; Sally (Tim) Miller, Isle; Marcia Skogen, Mississippi; Dorothy Skogen, Florida; Bonnie Skogen, Isle; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lyle Skogen; sisters; Lois (Jack) Holmes, Mary (Bob) Anderson; Nancy O'Halley; brother David (Ann) Johnson; and brothers-in-law; Clyde (Phyllis) Skogen, Ray Skogen, Larry Skogen, and Bob Skogen.

A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
