Wayne Nelson Obituary

Wayne Nelson, age 85, of Onamia, MN, passed away on May 17, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel of Onamia.

Wayne was born on July 8, 1938, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, to Alice (Kreutzer) and Orville Nelson. He graduated from Menominee High School in 1956 and went on to marry the love of his life, Sharon Kay Mliner, in 1966. He was a career truck driver and a proud member of the Teamsters Local 544. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his wife, Sharon; his many loved dogs and grandchildren. He loved going to the Onamia Vets Club on Friday nights for the meat Raffle, riding his HD trike, and visiting with his buddies. Wayne's favorite season was the fall, especially deer hunting with his son, Monty, and daughter-in-law, Lisa. Wayne served in the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran. He was a history buff about all wars and was a member of the 82 Airborne and a life member of the American Legionnaire's. He will be truly missed by all.

Wayne is survived by his son, Montgomery Nelson, and his wife, Lisa; daughter, Marijane Nelson; brothers, John Nelson, and his wife, Gloria, Bob Nelson, and his wife, Robin;

grandchildren, Logan Nelson, and his wife, Storm, Alicia Ahlf, and her husband, Travis, and Alexander Nelson; great-grandchildren, Lincoln Montgomery Ahlf and Nash Patrick Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Kay Nelson; son, Alexander Wayne Nelson; parents, Alice (Kreutzer) and Orville Nelson; and his brothers, Gareth Nelson and Ronald "Doc" Nelson.
