Michael John Chesmore

1972 - 2026

Janesville, WI - Michael John Chesmore, age 53, passed away unexpectedly at home on February 23, 2026. He was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on August 4, 1972, the son of John Harry and Karen Sue (Elliot) Chesmore. Michael graduated from Parker High School in 1992 and attended Gateway Technical College in Elkhorn for Criminal Justice. After completing his training at the Fox Valley Police Academy, he dedicated his career to serving the community of Milton, attaining the rank of Deputy Chief before his retirement on January 9, 2026, after 23 years of service. On August 23, 2003, he married the love of his life, Sarah Synowiec and they were blessed with two children.

He was a man of integrity, honor and a faithful provider to his beloved family. He helped many in need and prided himself on stepping up before being asked. He will be especially remembered for his 23-years of dedication to the Milton Police Department. Michael found solace being outdoors, tending to his yard, cycling or long walks in nature. He loved to travel and enjoyed planning the trip as much as the trip itself. Most of all Michael loved his family. A loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend he will be deeply missed.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Sarah Chesmore; children, Alex Michael Chesmore, London Olivia Chesmore; siblings, Daniel (Gail) Chesmore and Tami Bessire; nephew and nieces, Tyler (McKenzie) Chesmore, Kelsey Tande, and Michelle Bessire; father, John Chesmore; and numerous other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Chesmore.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at CARGILL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH with a visitation at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
