Anita V. Erickson, 94, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born Jan. 29, 1931, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Carol and Manghild (Nelson) Riggs. On Sept. 25, 1955, in Burlington, she married Roger K. Erickson. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 2012.
Anita was a 1948 graduate of Burlington High School and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Anita took great pride in being a stay-at-home mother.
She also assisted her husband with his business, Advanced T.V. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, making the most beautiful prayer shawls and being a part of her church Knit Wits Club. She also enjoyed sewing, making herself and family their clothing. Most of all, Anita loved nothing more than being with her family.
She is survived by her two children, Barbara (Bernie) Garcia and James Erickson, all of Burlington; two grandchildren, Vernave (Laura) Garcia and Javier (Marri VanDyke) Garcia; sister, Mary Bentley of Rochester, Minnesota, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Erickson. Also surviving are two nieces, and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roger.
Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.
The memorial service for Anita will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Richard Johnson officiating. A one-hour visitation will be prior to the service, at 10 a.m., at Lunning Chapel where the family will meet with friends. Interment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
