Barbara J. Corzatt, 94, of rural Dallas City, Ill., passed away at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, at The Elms in Macomb.
Barb was born May 10, 1930, at home in Durham Township, the daughter of Leslie and Vera (Hubbard) Blythe. On Aug. 1, 1948, she married Paul M. Corzatt at the Durham United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death June 5, 2024.
Barb attended Victory Grade School and was a 1948 graduate of La Harpe High School. She worked for a short time at the Lomax Canning Factory and Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison, Iowa. She spent most of her life being a farm wife; delivering meals, giving rides, raising her family and even hauling livestock and operating equipment. She also helped in the office at the Carthage Sale Barn.
Mrs. Corzatt was a member of the La Harpe Christian Church, where she was a youth leader, served as a Durham Election Judge, and served as a Director of the Raritan Bank. Most important to Barb was her family, she enjoyed attending her grandchildren's events and hosting "Grandma's Day" with games and activities for her family.
Survivors include four children: Kathy Butler of Blandinsville, Gary (Teresa) Corzatt of La Harpe, Carol (Todd) Stevens of La Harpe and Wayne (Debbie) Corzatt of Dallas City; 11 grandchildren: Julie (Jeremy) Smith, Matthew (Valerie) Butler, Jeffrey (Melissa) Butler, Robyn (Matt) Nichols, Laura (David) Panto, Kevin (Kimberly) Corzatt, Lesley (Bruce) McCain, Kristin (Chad) Lolling, Chris (Deanne) Corzatt, Craig (Kristina) Corzatt and Jensen (Mackenzie) Corzatt and 29 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two great-grandchildren: Jeffrey Panto and Laken Corzatt; one son-in-law: David Butler and four siblings: Lawrence Blythe, Doris Beer, Russell Blythe and Ivan Blythe.
The family received friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the La Harpe Christian Church. The funeral service followed at 11:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Rick Goettsche and Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating. Burial was in Durham Cemetery.
