Christopher Rule Obituary

Christopher George Rule, 40, of Montrose, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, at his shop at home as the result of an accident.

He was born Dec. 1, 1983, in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of Harry Sr. and Nancy Carol Hardy Rule.

Chris graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School with the class of 2003, and then graduated from Southeastern Community College, where he received his automotive technology certification.

On Jan. 1, 2011, Chris was united in marriage with Stacy Ann Meyer at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Montrose. She survives.

Chris was of the Christian faith.

He had first been employed as an auto mechanic by Shottenkirk in Burlington, and Jim Baier in Fort Madison. He was currently employed by Central Lee School District as a bus driver, and was the owner and operator of Rule Automotive.

Chris discovered his lifelong passion for fixing cars when he was 3 years old. He spent time with his father in the garage, learning everything he could. He was known to his family as Mr. Fixit and had a natural talent for fixing just about anything. Chris took pride in his yard and vegetable garden. He spent countless hours canning vegetables to share with his family and friends. He loved to bake cakes from scratch on birthdays for his family. His dedication to coaching, especially in sports including soccer, left a lasting impact on the lives of countless young athletes, reflecting his passion for mentorship and community. His children were his greatest joy and he cherished every moment he spent creating memories with them.

Other survivors include one son Orian George Rule and one daughter Stella Annmarie Rule, both of Montrose. He is also survived by his father Harry Rule Sr. (Phutho Thach) of Hollywood, Florida, and Donnellson; two brothers, Harry Lee Rule Jr. (Michelle) of Montrose, and Michael Lee Rule (Vanesa) of Sacramento, California; two sisters, Jamie Rule of Kahoka, Missouri, and Ann Kimmel (Tom) of Seattle, Washington; two brothers-in-law, Chad Meyer and Monte Meyer (Trudy Rusch); four sisters-in-law, Connie Struckman (Jeff), Bonnie Schroder (Mark), Cindy Austin, and Brenda Meyer; several nieces and nephews, including Megan Meyer; one great-niece Kayleigh Meyer; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Rule; one brother Eric Rule; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Donald and Yula Meyer; and one brother-in-law Perry Meyer.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at New Testament Christian Church, 1578 Hilton Road, Keokuk, with the Rev. Derek Olsen officiating. Burial will be in the Montrose Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with family meeting with friends at that time.
