David Martinez Obituary
He was born on Nov. 7, 1952 in Fort Madison to Frank and Guadalupe Sandoval Martinez. David worked a full career at DuPont and Axalta and retired after 37 years of service in 2013. David married Victoria Vasquez in November of 1969 and they later divorced, he then married Linda Rampy in June of 1997 in Fort Madison.
He served in the US Army and was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the LULAC and the Eagles Club. David enjoyed shooting pool, bowling and fishing. He was a sports fan, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers, Las Vegas Raiders and the Boston Celtics. David loved traveling to Colorado and had a few special places he would continue to go to. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Martinez of Fort Madison; his children, Shannon (Keith) Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz., David Martinez Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., Victor (Houmema) Martinez of Djibouti, Africa, Jaime (James) Seaney of Avondale, Ariz. and Emily (Luis) Valdez of Burlington, Derrick (Tami) Riley of Fort Madison and Brooke Riley of Fort Madison; 12 grandchildren; four sisters, Frances Gaucin of Texas, Veronica Soto of Peoria, Ariz., Catherine Lozano of Seattle, Wash. and Theresa Howard of Puyallup, Wash.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025 at 11 a.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Beckman officiating. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.. Burial will be at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025 at Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Army.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the LULAC and online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com.
