KEOKUK - Dennis L. Case, 80, peacefully departed his earthly body on Nov. 8, 2025 at 3:53 am in his home in Keokuk, surrounded by his loving spouse, son, daughter and faithful fur baby Mollie.
Dennis was born on Dec. 14, 1944, to Eston and Nellie (McNally) Case in Vincennes, Iowa. At the tender age of 14, Dennis met the love of his life Carol Young. The two quickly fell in love and were united in marriage at just 16 years of age. While many speculated that "it will never last" Dennis and Carol proved them wrong-celebrating 64 years of marriage.
Throughout his life, Dennis was known for his strong work ethic, his "Case attitude" and his unwavering love for his family. He cherished time spent gardening, fishing and hunting animals from squirrels to deer and the illusive morel mushroom. Dennis was well known for his colorful stories and sharing his vast knowledge of the outdoors with all. He will be remembered for his steadfast love, humor and smile that touched everyone who knew him.
Dennis leaves behind a legacy of love and integrity through his wife of 64 years, Carol; their children: Tammy (Jerry) Brewer, Larry (Melissa Smith) Case, and Lori (Josh) Newberry. And a special son-in-law, Richard Moore. Dennis was a proud grandfather to Aaron Moore, Lance (Samantha) Moore, Michael (Kara) Moore, Ricky (Julie) Moore, Katie Cleveland, Andrew Yerhart, Mark Brewer, Joshua (Sherry) Martin, Tanner Case, Bailee Case, Ryan (Josie) Washburn, Kaylee (Jake Parsons) Koch, Taylor (Jordan) Weirather, Tyler (Kelsey) Newberry, Jordan (Megan) Newberry and Addison Newberry. He was also blessed with 27 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren (and 2 more on the way). He is also survived by siblings Gale Case and Esta Canida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eston and Nellie and brother Randy Case. Dennis was greeted lovingly in Heaven by his grandson Kevin Douglas Moore, granddaughter Meghan Brewer and great-grandsons Gavin Moore and Brody Lee Newberry.
A celebration of life will be held at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, Iowa on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 1-3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Every Step Hospice or the Pediatric
Heart Association in honor of Aiden Washburn; both are dear to the family's heart.
Dennis's memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him, and to always remember "A bad day fishing is still a good day."
