Donald Koehler Obituary
Donald Henry Koehler, 84, of Sutter, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois.
Don was born Aug. 20, 1938, in Keokuk, the son of Truman J. and Edna (Schmitt) Koehler.
He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1956. It was there he met his future wife, Sue Thompson. They were united in marriage Sept. 18, 1960, at Bethlehem United Church of Christ near Sutter.
Don owned and operated Koehler Implement, which was started by his father in 1940. He also farmed and learned about the equipment he sold that way. He enjoyed tractor pulls and had attended every National Farm Machinery Show tractor pull since its inception in 1969.
He loved softball, playing in his younger years and then attending all his grandchildren's sporting events, never missing a game. He and Sue loved country dancing. They were active in Mexico missions trips for several years where they built homes and a church, and he was a life-long member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ near Sutter.
Don is survived by his wife Sue of Sutter; son Tony (Beth) Koehler of Warsaw; daughter Tonya (Dennis) Dooley of Sutter; grandchildren, Kerbee (Dan) Gratz, Kyra Koehler, Collin (fiancé, Casey Smith) Dooley, Lexi (Jamie) Cousins, and Peyton (fiancé, Montanna Andrews) Dooley; one great-grandchild Konner Gratz; sister Marilyn (Jim) Perry of Fort Branch, Indiana; and brother, Dale (Pat) Koehler of Manchester, Missouri; as well as many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ near Sutter.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Monday at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, with family meeting friends from 4-7 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem United Church of Christ or Western Illinois Threshers.
