Emily Peel Obituary
She was born on March 12, 1930, in Augusta, Iowa, to Robert and Effie Wills Chesnut.
She married Mark Anderson on April 24, 1946, in Burlington. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1991. She married Orval Duane Peel on July 18, 1992, at the Santa Fe United Methodist Church in Fort Madison.
She was a secretary at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and owned and operated the M & Em's Grocery Store in Wever. She was a member of Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ and enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, traveling and riding motorcycles.
Emily is survived by her husband, Duane Peel of Denmark; one daughter, Dorothy (Jeff) Kramer of Wever; one step daughter, Brenda Peel of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Todd Kramer of Chicago, Ill., Becky (Jens) Carlsen of Fort Madison, Kelly (Lonnie) Timmerman of Donnellson, and Stacie (Jay) Gordon of Fort Madison; two step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Wolfe of Burlington; one brother, Richard Chesnut of Atlanta, GA; one step daughter in law, Carolyn Anderson of Wever; and one half-sister, Gloria Glee of California.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, first husband, one step son, Gerald Anderson, one brother, one sister and two siblings in infancy.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, with the family to receive friends 4-6 p.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory, with Rev. Chad Savage officiating. The family requests that masks be worn for all services. Burial will be held at Claypoole Cemetery.
