Gary C. Johnson "Yogi," 81, of Winfield passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, at his home in Winfield.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the Winfield United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24, in the church. Burial will be in the Winfield Scott Township Cemetery with military rites.
Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Winfield United Methodist Church or the Winfield First Responders in memory of Gary.

Gary Conard Johnson was born on July 27, 1943, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Harlan C. and Alice (Johnson) Johnson. He was a 1961 graduate of Winfield High School. Gary served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964 to 1970. On March 30, 1969, Gary was united in marriage to Sharalyn L. Noland at the Winfield United Methodist Church.
Gary was a farmer in the Winfield area his entire life. He was a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church, served on the Farmers Co-op board, Sunrise Terrance Nursing Home board, Westview Apartments board, Peoples State Bank board, Winfield Historical Society board, Winfield United Methodist Church Trustee, Chairman of the Parsonage Committee, Henry County Farm Bureau board member, lifetime member of American Belgian Association and 50-year member of the Good Faith Masonic Lodge # 235.
Gary was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed refinishing furniture, collecting John Deere 2-cylinder tractors, golfing and attending his kids and grandkids events. Most of all, Gary made it a point to make everyone around him smile. He was a stranger to none and friend to all.
Gary will be deeply missed by his wife, Sharalyn of Winfield; his children, Krista (Jason) Aird of West Liberty, Kerri (Matt) Anderson of Mount Pleasant and Karmen Johnson of Winfield; six grandchildren, Lauren Aird, Rachel Aird, Madie Anderson, Anna Anderson, Grant Anderson and Colin Anderson and many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Johnson and sister-in-law, Marie Johnson.

I am Gary's cousin from the city, so as kids we were thrilled when we got to see the hogs and of course his beautiful horses. Gary had the most wonderful grin and belly laugh. Truly a kind person. God Bless..
