Helen Harness Obituary
Helen was born Sept. 12, 1925, the daughter of Albert and Lyda (Fry) Miller in Keokuk. She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1943.
She was united in marriage with John "Jack" Harness at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norman, Oklahoma, in 1945.
Helen was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge. She was also active in the community by volunteering at both Graham and St. Joseph's Hospitals, Birthright, and her churches, St. Mary's and later All Saints.
Helen is survived by her children, John R. (Sherry) Harness of Denver, Colorado, Janet Harness of Denver, and Dr. Jim (Diane) Harness of Quincy; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother Dr. Kennith (Brenda) Miller of Spring Green, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack Harness; children, Jean K. Harness and Jane E. (Harness) Wilson; and brothers, Jack, Guerdon (Cork), and Steve Miller.
Memorial and graveside services will be held at a later date.
DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home of Keokuk is in charge of arrangements.
