Janet Kay Gorsch, 76, of West Burlington died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at her home.
Born Jan. 26, 1947, in Grinnell, she was the daughter of Charles and Erma (Smith) DePauw.
She graduated from BGM High School. She was a certified paraeducator. On June 18, 1966, she married Charles "Chuck" Gorsch in Brooklyn, Iowa.
Janet was a special education specialist for the West Burlington Independent School District. She was a member of West Burlington Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafts and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; one daughter, Stephanie (Jeff) Gerdom of Burlington; two sons, Nathan (Corinne) Gorsch of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Marc (Kristina) Gorsch of Shorewood, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Sadie, Kinnick, Macey and Carver Gorsch, Olivia Gerdom, Jaren and Emery Gorsch; two brothers, John (Carol) DePauw and Joel (Rosie) DePauw, both of Council Bluffs; one sister, Julie (Joe) Kriegel of Brooklyn, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother James DePauw.
Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
A celebration of life will be held at West Burlington Christian Church Friday, March 29, at 6 p.m. with a dessert bar to follow.
A memorial has been established for West Burlington Christian Church.
