Jeanne Ruth Wolbers, 90, of Danville died Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Emergency Department.
She was born March 23, 1935, in Burlington to Barton Evan and Ruth Grace Gilbert Sipes. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1953 and belonged to Long Creek United Methodist Church in Danville. She married James Raymond Wolbers on June 12, 1955 in Burlington, and he died Oct. 30, 2016.
She worked for the Danville School District as a bus driver, serving hot lunches, and helping in the office. Jeanne enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader, quilting, sewing, going to lunch with her friends, and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wolbers is survived by one son, Brett (Jan) Wolbers of Danville and their children, Cary Wolbers, Darren Wolbers, and Lauren (Arturo) Robledo; one daughter, Joanne (Bob) Spenner of Washington and their children, Jacqueline (AJ) Walker, Joceline Spenner and Jameson Spenner; great-grandchildren, Brooks, Avery, and Ryker Walker and Adrian Robledo; and one brother, George (Carmen) Sipes of Washington State.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents.
According to her wishes, a private family service and burial will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery with Pastor David Mixon officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Long Creek United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be sent to her daughter, Joanne Spenner, at 1824 Orange Avenue, Washington, Iowa, 52353.
