Joseph "Joe" Patrick Landis, 54, of
Warsaw, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at his home.
Joe was born Sept. 5, 1970, the son of Thomas and Diane (Thompson) Landis in
Keokuk, Iowa.
During his youth, Joe loved riding horses with his beloved mother Diane and spending time with his father Tom in the garage fixing things or cutting down trees. Joe attended Southeastern Community College, receiving his associate degree, and then went on to Western Illinois University where he received his bachelor's degree in computer science in 1999.
After graduation, Joe resided in Iowa City where he dabbled in music as a disc jockey and worked as a CD salesman. It was there that he met a sweet young lady that eventually became his loving wife, Corine. They were united in marriage on July 25, 1998, in Hills, Iowa.
He and Corine moved to Warsaw in 2000, where they bought a home, started a family, and where Joe began his career in IT for Allied Blending, Inc. of Keokuk; a role which he seemed born to do. His technological savvy was almost unparalleled, and as a result Joe often traveled to provide support to his colleagues across the U.S. and fix a bevy of computer and other issues for the technologically-challenged residents of the city. He was equally skilled at starting multiple home improvement projects at the same time and never finishing them. Joe also loved to get together with old high school and college friends every once in a while to reminisce on days gone by and simpler times. He loved to be outdoors in the summer and was never happier than when he was firing up the grill and sharing the wealth of his efforts as grill master with family and friends.
Joe was an avid follower of NASCAR and you would often find him in his chair watching the races and adlibbing along with the commentators as the laps progressed and the intensity of the race increased.
He loved spending time with his children, Jennifer and Ethan. In their younger years, you would see them all chasing around in go-carts and ATVs out in the yard or pasture at Joe's childhood home up on College Hill. As the kids grew into adulthood and established their own lives, the days with them were spent camping or in a boat on the mighty Mississippi just talking about life, their future plans, hopes and dreams. Joe's door was always open to anyone and his house was a place that many of his children's friends considered home.
Joe is survived by his wife, Corine (Bopp) of Warsaw; daughter Jennifer Diane Landis of Iowa City; son Ethan Thomas Landis of Warsaw; brother Michael Landis and his wife Julie (Jaskie) Landis of Warsaw; brother-in-law Greg Bopp; sister-in-law Renee (Bopp) Murphy and her husband Chad Murphy; brother-in-law Jim Bopp and his wife Heather (Payne) Bopp; brother-in-law Mike Bopp; 13 nieces and nephews; his dear aunts Patricia (Landis) Starcevich and Sue (Thompson) Koehler and their respective husbands Jim Starcevich and the late Donald Koehler; as well as many beloved cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; and a brother, Michael David Landis, in infancy.
