Kenneth Hartweg Obituary
Ken was born Dec. 30, 1935, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Carl and Avis (Ewen) Hartweg. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1958 and married Shirley Heagy on Dec. 30, 1958. She survives. Also surviving are his two brothers, Darrell (Donna) Hartweg, Bloomington, and Phillip (Pamela) Hartweg, Glen Ellyn,; two children living in Normal, Karsten W. (Laurie) Hartweg, and Ramona (Kenneth) Swanberg; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Ken's career as an agronomist started at Funk Brothers Hybrid Seed Company in 1958. His work was spent traveling internationally from the late 1960s, visiting every continent except Australia and Antarctica. Ken and his wife and children lived in Switzerland for three years during this period. He ended his career with CIBA Geigy Seed Division in 1997. He will be remembered for his wide-ranging interests, methodical nature, sense of humor and humbleness. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, Carthage.

Shirley and family,
So sad to hear of Kenneth's passing. I only knew him two years at Hamilton High School but that was enough time to know he was a fine man and I am sure he was a fine husband and father.

Shirley, we are so saddened to hear of Ken´s passing. We were blessed with 20 years of friendship and a neighbor. We will always remember Ken as a very kind soft-spoken man that we loved to chat with. He was always working outside with his hands and loved to talk fighting Illini sports with Scott any day of the week. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your children, family and friends.
