Kevin M. Rink, 58, of Washington, Iowa, and formerly of Fort Madison, passed away unexpectedly at 5:09 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born Nov. 2, 1966, in Cresco, to Kenneth E. and Judith K. Harrington Rink. He married Lea Ann Knisley on May 27, 2017, in Fort Madison.
He was a collector for the Financial Adjustment Bureau and later a financial counselor at Fort Madison Community Hospital for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Moose Lodge in Fort Madison and a former member of Holy Family Parish.
He enjoyed volunteering for many things in Fort Madison, including the Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll drive and cooking and taking money for the Knights of Columbus chicken night. He was on the Children First board and also worked with the Fort Madison Community Hospital Foundation.
He served on the City of Fort Madison City Council and was instrumental in getting the dog park and the new fire department building built. He also helped with Holy Trinity God's Portion Day.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Lea Ann Rink of Washington, Iowa; his mother, Judi Rink of Stronghurst, Illinois; one bonus son, Chris (Darynne) Wenger of Cedar Rapids; one bonus daughter, Sara (Dylan) Bruns of Ankeny; one light of his life grandbaby, Matteo Wenger; two brothers, Jason (Sally) Rink of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Kurt (fiancée Amanda Jackson) Rink of Chandler, Arizona; three nieces, Megan, Bailey, and Emma Rink; one great-niece, Lily Jones; and his mother-in-law, Joann Knisley of Donnellson.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dan "Bo" and Marge Harrington; his paternal grandparents, Ed and Ruth Rink; his father, Kenneth Rink; and his father-in-law, Bill Knisley.
A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Dave Poland officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Fort Madison Police Department, Fort Madison Fire Department, or his grandson Matteo's education.
