Marilyn Rettig Obituary

Marilyn Rose Rettig, 86, of Augusta, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the home of her daughter in Fort Madison.

She was born on February 5, 1939, in Iowa City, to Bertha (Pickrell) and Samuel Crafton. On September 5, 1959, she married Ralph Rettig in Lomax, Illinois.

Ralph and Marilyn had one son, Douglas, and two daughters, Michelle and Julie.

Marilyn was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family, especially during Sunday family gatherings.

Survivors include two daughters, Michelle (Greg Soper) Terhune and Julie Rettig; four grandchildren, Jody (Cody), Brittnie (Cameron), Erinn, and Brenden; four great-grandchildren, Nikolas, A.J., Zachariah, and Emma; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; her son, Douglas; ten siblings; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

The graveside funeral service and inurnment for Marilyn will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, at Augusta Cemetery in Augusta, Iowa.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
