Marilyn Jean French Schaller
1932 - 2021
Marilyn Jean French Schaller, 88, passed away on Oct. 9, 2021, in Palm Coast, Fla. She was a longtime resident of Hamilton, Ill., and moved to Florida in 1984.

She was born in Catlin, Ill., on Oct. 14, 1932. She was the daughter of the Rev. Herschel P. and Evalena French. Both preceded her in death.

She married Luther Schaller who also preceded her in death.

Marilyn was a graduate of Hamilton High School where she was active in band and vocal music, receiving a number 1 rating in State music contests three of her four years of high school. She was also the recipient of the Arion Award her senior year.

She attended Blessing Hospital School of Nursing in Quincy, Ill., and graduated in 1954. She remained actively nursing for 48 years, retiring in 2002. She remained active in vocal music and appeared in three productions of the Hancock County Musical Theater. She was a cast member in "Music Man," played Bloody Mary in "South Pacific," and Golda in "Fiddler on the Roof."

Survivors include her brother Paul French and wife Alice Marie of Hamilton. She is also survived by three children, Tracie Jones of Winter Springs, Fla., Lori Loftis of Palm Coast, Fla., and Mark Schaller and wife Carol of Fredericksburg, Va. Other survivors include grandchildren, Kori Boley, Mitra Amirzadeh, Ryan Loftis, and Siena Schaller, as well as two great-grandchildren.

Her body will be cremated.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
