Marjorie Eloise "Elly" Webb, 97, of Keokuk, Iowa, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne, Indiana, following a short illness.
She was born Dec. 10, 1927, at her grandparents' home in rural Mt. Pulaski, Illinois, the daughter of Eles Harper and Ruby Olive (Clendenen) Quandt. She went to elementary school in a one-room school house and went to high school at Mt. Pulaski Township High School, graduating with the class of 1945. Elly attended college at Lincoln Bible Institute (LBI) in Lincoln, Illinois, and graduated with a bachelor's degree.
While at LBI, Elly met and fell in love with a soon to be preacher, Charles "Chuck" Webb. On Aug. 22, 1950, they were joined in matrimony and for over 60 years they served together in ministry at Christian Churches in the Midwest and beyond. From teaching Sunday school and Bible studies to leading music and supporting mission work, Elly had the heart of a servant and did everything to the glory of God.
She also held several other jobs over the years. While living in Keokuk she had been employed at Singer, Pamida, Jack and Jill Preschool, Torrence Elementary school, and Keokuk Christian Academy. Later Chuck and Elly moved to Joplin, Missouri, to work at Good News Productions International (GNPI). During their time there, Elly served as a hostess to missionary families visiting GNPI.
Elly was a charter member of New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk. After moving back to Keokuk in 2000, Elly attended and served faithfully at NTCC.
Elly stayed busy, even at age 97. Besides church activities, she enjoyed reading the Bible and Christian periodicals, keeping up to date on mission work, doing crossword puzzles, working on genealogy, traveling to visit friends and family and seeing the beauty of God's world while on the road, and spending time with her family.
Chuck and Elly loved to travel and had the privilege of going on many trips as part of their ministry. They traveled to England to serve an interim ministry and took a bus trip into Europe, and traveled the USA from the East Coast to the West Coast, presenting the ministry of GNPI to churches. Elly also traveled to Austria to volunteer at Haus Edelweiss, a ministry teaching campus near Vienna. She has touched many people through her ministries and has a wonderful church family all around the world.
But her most important ministry in life was supporting her husband and loving and caring for her family. Wherever she lived she made her house a home where many memories were made. She had a generous spirit and a heart of hospitality.
She is survived by her four children, Sarah Vigen and her husband Marcus of Keokuk, Todd Webb and his wife Debbie of Florida, Martha Savage of Indiana, and Tim Webb and his wife Rita of Rhode Island; grandchildren: Emily (Daniel) Shelton, Andrea Mott, Seth (Katie) Mott, Elisabeth (Lance) Stevenson, Rachel Webb, Logan (Bethany) Webb, Kyle (Anthony) Webb, Chloe (Josh) Glenn, Olivia (Andy) Grimes, Kristen (Andrew) Hellenga, and Geoffrey Webb; step-grandchildren: Melissa (Jason) Trone, Matthew Vigen, Darylle (Tim Allard) Sheehan and Robert Sheehan Jr.; and many great-grandchildren that filled her heart with joy. She is also survived by one brother, Paul Quandt and his wife Ann of Florida and one sister-in-law, Patty Quandt of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles, on Aug. 26, 2016; her parents; one son-in-law Dwight Savage; one brother Leon Quandt; one nephew Tom Quandt; and her only cousin Louie Bartels.
