Mary Ann Stenger Obituary
Mary Ann was born on Nov. 17, 1928, in Fort Madison, a daughter of John and Helen (Maiborger) Rippenkroeger. She married Lawrence E. Stenger on Oct. 16, 1948. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2012 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronald Stenger; one sister; and eight brothers.
Mary Ann is survived by her five children, Roger Stenger, Pamela Stenger, Julie (Christopher) Higgins, Michael Stenger and Donald Stenger; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mary Ann was a loving mother to family, to strangers and to all. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and her Hallmark Movies. She participated in Gifts for the Yanks and in service for New Citizenships. She was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary at American Legion Post 2 in Peoria.
She enjoyed her job at Methodist as an anesthesiologist aide, retiring in 1988. She was also a Gold Star Family recipient for her brother, James.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with a one hour prior visitation. Chaplain James DeLoatche will officiate and burial of ashes will follow at Springdale Cemetery.
