Jim Hollenback Obituary

Jim Hollenback

Richard James Hollenback Jr., beloved husband, devoted father, and cherished member of the community, passed away on May 1, 2024, in Phoenix, AZ, at the age of 71. Known as Jim Hollenback to most people but also known as Holly by a select few. Born on July 8, 1952, in Missoula, MT, to Richard and Shirley Hollenback. He started his life at the family ranch in Gold Creek, MT, then spent his formative years in Superior, MT, immersed in the beauty of Montana, cultivating a love for nature and a strong work ethic.

As a child, Jim found joy and purpose in local activities such as 4-H, foreshadowing his lifelong commitment to hard work and community involvement. He dedicated himself to supporting the family ranch and motel in Mineral County, MT, where his passion for entrepreneurship began to flourish.

Throughout his life, Jim pursued his entrepreneurial dreams with determination. His ventures led him along various paths until he found his calling as a realtor, a career in which he excelled and eventually retired from.

Jim's impact extended beyond his professional endeavors; he was a pillar of strength and support for his family and friends, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, May.

Jim is survived by his children and their families: Dustin Hollenback and wife, Eszti Hollenback; Shane Hollenback, wife, Lori Hollenback, and their son, Ronan Hollenback; Sara Lindquist, husband, Andy Lindquist, and their son, Drew Lindquist; Nathan Peterson, wife, Amy Peterson, and their daughter, London Peterson; and Anthony Peterson and wife, Ginger Gallardo.

He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Jo Lommen, Cathy Hartman, Dan Hollenback, David Hollenback, and their families.

Jim will be reunited with the love of his life, May Hollenback, as he is peacefully laid to rest next to her in Superior, MT. Though he may have physically left this world, his contagious smile, legacy of love, integrity, and hard work will continue to inspire all those whose lives he touched.

We will celebrate Jim's life at Alpine Falls Ranch in Superior, MT on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 10 AM. More detail will be available at: JimHollenback.com

Condolences to the Hollenback family. Although we had never met Jim, my husband's great aunt Catherine was Jim's gramma. They both have memories of stories about Gold Creek.

I knew Jim when I lived in Superior in the 5th and 6th grade. When I moved to Drummond, I continued to see Jim through sports and visiting. I considered him a good friend. I last saw Jim in Bozeman at Montana State University in 1971. I´ll always remember when he invited me out to the ranch during calving season. It is a treasured memory for me. Jim was a great guy with a big smile. Rest in peace old friend. I´ll always remember our friendship. It sounds like you found your place in life. My condolences to your family. Peace
