Michael Joseph Kearney
Michael Joseph Kearney, 79, passed away peacefully in his home on December 22, 2023. Mike was born on September 27, 1944, in Tucson, AZ to John Henry and Dorothy Lucille Kearney. Mike attended Catalina High School where he was active in the Rifle Club, Shop Classes, and Hunting. After High School he married his first wife Christine Owen and had two sons, Denis, and James. Mike attended Junior College in Stafford, AZ and then worked for Arizona Gear and Manufacturing. He then moved to Missoula, MT where he worked for Missoula County as an equipment operator. Mike was active in 4x4 clubs, building Hot Rod Jeeps, Mud Buggies and Alcohol Funny Cars. He met his wife Patti, and they lived in East Missoula for 33 years. After retirement Mike worked as a Wildland Fire Fighter and spent most of his time in his shop.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Patricia Bush, Jack Kearney, and Kathern Hanson. He is survived by his wife, Patti; his sons, Denis (Alper) Kearney San Mateo, CA, James (Veronica) Kearney Tucson, AZ; his sister, Sharon Haines Sierra Vista, AZ; sister-in-law, Barbra Kearney Tucson, AZ; stepdaughter, Kellie (Kenn) Teasdale Syracuse, UT; stepson, Charles (Katie) Petersen Anaconda, MT, seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at Garden City Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
