Michael Maes Obituary

Michael Lawrence Maes

It is with deep sadness that we announce Michael Lawrence Maes, of Missoula, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 4th, 2021, at Community Medical Center, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was 52 years old.

Mike was born on May 2nd, 1969, in San Francisco California, to parents Larry and Donna Maes. As a youngster he loved playing baseball, boating and fishing in the heat of California summer alongside his siblings. He also found a passion for cars at a very young age, a passion which followed him through the course of his life. In his teens he bought his first Mach 1 Mustang and rebuilt it from top to bottom, all on his own. From replacing the engine, to restoring the interior, to repainting the car a bright red, it was his pride and joy.

He moved to Eugene Oregon a few years later and it was there that he met and married Tawnya, his high school sweetheart, in 1990. Together they had three children, Anthony, Hillary and Gregory. Aside from being a family man, he was a natural born salesman and made a career in sales management starting in his mid-twenties and lasting throughout his life.

Mike and his family moved to Montana in 1999 and Mike divorced in 2001. By 2003 he had met and married Deborah. Together, the two took on new roles as parents of a blended family, and always maintained a busy household as the kids grew. In his later years, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, good food and spending quality time with Deborah and his children. He was a lover of life, classic car junkie, jokester, loyal friend, and most of all, a devoted husband and father. He will be missed tremendously.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother Vi, his father Larry, his stepsister Lisa, and numerous other family members. He is survived by his wife Deborah, all three of his children, his stepdaughters Hayley (Derek) and Micayla, as well as his mother Donna, his stepmom Mary, his sister Laura, and his brother Chris. His celebration of life will take place on October 24th, 2021, at 1 pm, at Linda Vista golf course.
