Nadine Marie Thyfault
Nadine Marie Thyfault, 94, of Missoula, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, November 10, 2022.
Nadine was born October 20, 1928 to Agnes and John Holmgren in Elk River, Idaho. They later moved to Lewiston, Idaho where she went from first grade through high school. She was very proud of the fact that she was head majorette for the Lewiston High School Bengals. There she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Norman. They married in 1947 and had three children: Judith, Janice, and Jay.
In 1953 they moved to Boise, where Norm ran a long-haul trucking business. In 1960 Nadine and Norm moved to Missoula, Montana where she supported him in several businesses: Missoula Distributing, Missoula Tire Co., Grizzle Development and the Roadrunner Bar and Restaurant.
Nadine was the ultimate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was a great friend and loved everyone (except maybe a couple of political characters!)
She had a beautiful voice and sang in every Catholic Church Choir with which she was affiliated. She also sang with the Sweet Adaline's. She loved to clog and traveled around to different events with her clogging group.
Every single living being felt her warmth, kindness and gentle heart (with exception, again, of those few political figures!) She will be missed by her surviving children Judy and Jay of whom she was so proud.
Nadine spent a lifetime caring for her family, sewing beautiful clothes for all, baking cookies, hosting family functions and making sure that the pool was ready for all her little fishes. She a was a huge sports fan and would stop everything to watch the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Seahawks or for that matter any football team of which she fancied the quarterback.
Nadine is survived by her daughter Judy Grunow (Michael) of Lolo, son Jay Thyfault of Boise and grandchildren: Tim Brester, Brandy Wilson, Megan Grunow, Matthew Grunow (Kasie), Mallory Potts (Michael); her sister Cheryl Fotheringill and niece Lori Cobb (Matt). She is also survived by her grandkiddoes: Austin, Justin, Joseph, Dane, Pearl and Ryder.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norm, and daughter Janice.
The family would like to thank Big Sky Hospice for their outstanding compassionate care. They would also like to thank all of our family and friends for their support and prayers. Their love and support has given us comfort and courage and is immeasurably appreciated.
A vigil will be held Friday, November 18 at Spirit of Christ Catholic Church, 5475 Farm Lane in Lolo from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 11:00 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 1475 Eaton Street, Missoula. She will be buried in a private family service in Polson at a later date.

Thyfault Family,
I have such wonderful childhood memories of your sweet mom! She was the ultimate teacher of "Lake Life". Dream boats, homemade ice cream, pinecone owls, and her stuffed Walla Walla sweet onions were all wonderful, but her her sweet smile and wonderful sense of humor left an everlasting impression.
May you find peace in all of your wonderful memories.
