Kema Johnson Obituary

Kema Genevieve Johnson

January 17, 1987 ~

November 3, 2025

Our beautiful, beloved daughter Genny passed away unexpectedly at her home in Benicia, California on November 3, 2025.

Genny is survived by her faithful, constant companion Otto the Australian Shepard, her heartbroken parents Kevin and Jody Johnson, dozens of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless dear friends and colleagues throughout the West.

Genny had a quick wit, dry sense of humor and infectious laugh. Those who knew her best remember her as curious, creative, kind, and brave. She loved her dogs, horses, gardening with her Mom, gourmet food, yoga, motorcycle riding, dancing and ranch work with her Dad. Her soul was at peace in the deserts around Moab, Utah, or her favorite beaches of Northern California. Genny called both Moab and the San Francisco Bay Area home. She was born in Marin County, California, attended Red Rock Elementary in Moab, and high school in California and Texas. She had a lifelong love of learning and knowledge. She proudly fulfilled her educational goal by receiving her bachelor's and master's Degrees from St Mary's College of California and her Juris Doctorate from the Strum College of Law at the University of Denver. Admitted to the bar, she was a practicing attorney and worked for Oracle Americas Corporation in Redwood Shores, California.

A celebration of Genny's life will be held at a later date.

Kema,
This is so difficult because you are such an amazing person and friend. I miss you so much. I will never forget your laugh- it made me so happy. It made everyone happy. I know it´s cliché, but to know you is to love you.

I´m struggling with the fact I can´t call you or visit you, but I know you are somewhere incredible, which makes my heart hurt a little less. Give Roscoe a big hug and treat from me. I love you so much.

Love,
Sara

Our beautiful niece Genny was such a spark in life and had her own Bohemian style. From competing in Tough Mudder Obstacle Races, riding motorcycles with her Dad Kevin and playing golf with family members at their golf club. Genny was always pushing the boundaries, wanting to learn and explore all aspects of life. We were so proud of everything Genny accomplished in her college years. Her great sense of humor and fun take on life will truly be missed. Her star was just starting to soar and her life in California was helping her to realize her dreams. Genny will be missed for so many reasons and she just left us too soon. We love you and will miss our Genny and her joy for life.
God bless,
Marci & Owen Shackleton
(Genny´s aunt and Uncle)

Kevin & Jody- I have no words for how much my heart aches for you both. I know how close you 3 were and what a bright light Genny was in your lives. I remember her well as the sweetest, liveliest, little girl I used to love to babysit, and more recently as the witty, intensely bright and engaging young woman she became. Sending you both all of my love and tight hugs until we meet again.
Ashley.
