Larry Claude Tomlinson, Jr.- a native of Mobile, AL and a longtime resident of Fairhope, AL died in his home on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Larry was born on March 11, 1935 to Sarah Clark and Larry Claude Tomlinson, Sr. He attended Barton Academy in Mobile, AL and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a strong man and an entrepreneur who believed in hard work and more importantly believed in himself. He played baseball for the Cleveland Indians, drove an 18-wheeler, grew trucking companies, started a warehousing business, built warehouses, drove tractors, helped start a building materials company, helped start a construction company, played golf, ran a golf course, and at 86 years he was enthusiastically working on a new project. Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Tomlinson and sister, Marie Crosby. He is survived by his wife Patsy Schell Tomlinson; sons Mike Tomlinson (Abbie) and Terry Tomlinson; daughters, Ginny McCrory (Bart) and Lorie Gaillard (Peter); grandchildren, Jered Tomlinson, Kayla Matthews, Tim Tomlinson, Virginia McCrory, Ward McCrory, Mac Gaillard, Les Gaillard, and Anne Patton Gaillard; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerry Tomlinson; sisters, Margie Bunch, Teresa Breedlove, Ann Emerson, and Maxine Gove; many other loving relatives and friends. A visitation will begin at 10:00am on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Trinity Presbyterian in Fairhope with a service beginning at 11:00am. Patsy, Lorie, Ginny and other family members: I am heartbroken for your loss and I have each of you in my thoughts and prayers. Larry and each of you have all been a special part of my life and I treasure the time that I had with each of you. Larry's vision of the future of transportation was far ahead of anyone I had ever worked for before coming to work for him and I am so very fortunate to have had the opportunity that he gave me. I spent 30 years of my life working for and with Larry and they were the most meaningful of my professional life. I apologize that I am physically unable to attend the services this Wednesday, but please know that you are - and ever will be - in my thoughts and prayers. Mary Jane and I extend to you our most heartfelt sympathy. Take care. Dave Boswell
