11/03/1947 On 28 June 1971, 3rd Platoon, 2/8 Cav, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) was engage in combat with elements of the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army defending a resupply depot. Three soldiers were killed, Corporal Bernard F Brzezinski of Clearwater, Florida; Staff Sergeant Willie James, Jr. of Mobile, Alabama; and Sergeant Gerald J Dowjotas of Downers Grove, Illinois. June 28th of this year marks the 50th anniversary of their deaths. A memorial to Staff Sergeant Willie James Jr, will be held at the Mobile National Cemetery, 1202 Virginia Street, Mobile AL 36604, on June 28, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Public is invited.
