Anthony Santos Obituary

Anthony R. Santos (A.R. or Tony) passed away March 21st at 92 years of age. His wife of 63 years and daughter were by his side.
A.R. was born in Crowslanding to Marion and Maria Santos. He spent most of his childhood in Newman until he went into the Navy in early 1941.
After serving his country, he returned home where he met his life's mate, Shirley. They were married in 1948 and lived in Newman for a short time. Tony then went to work for Souza Milk Transportation where he found a new career as a diesel mechanic. He worked for Souza Milk for 36 years until he finally retired in 1985. During retirement Tony enjoyed traveling with Shirley and took several cruise trips and a trip to Portugal.
Tony is survived by his loving wife Shirley, his daughter Cheryl, son Michael, son Richard and daughter-in-law Connie as well as four grandchildren Brittany, Alyssa, Riley and Yale. He also leaves one brother Frank Santos of Los Banos and a sister Maryann Lawrence of San Diego. He was preceded in death by five brothers, a sister and one godchild.
Visitation will be at Turlock Funeral Home on Thursday evening March 29, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00PM and Friday morning from 10:00 to 10:30AM at the church prior to the service.
A Rosary and Mass will be Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10:30AM at The Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine, CA followed by interment at Turlock Memorial Park in Turlock, CA.
Remembrances in honor of Tony can be sent to Veterans Hospital in Fresno. VA Central California Health Care, Attn: Mary Golden, 2615 E. Clinton Ave, Fresno, CA 95703

I was Tony's employer for all the years he worked at Souza's Trucking. He was a very loyal and sincere employee, never hesitating to go the extra mile to take care of whatever needed to be done. This world could stand many more men like Tony Santos. God Bless him and be with him, as well as with his wife Shirley and their family.
In his Sunday best, always a sharp dresser.

Tony was one of my first customers in the truck parts business and taught me a great deal about "customer service" (whether or not I wanted to hear it). Rarely a day has gone by in the last 30 years when i haven't thought of him. my condolences to his family, Tony was a prince of a man.
