I am so sorry to hear of Barry's passing. He was a really nice person and always cheerful. I knew him from working at the Modesto Police Dept. where I worked in Records at the time. I remember so well when he left MPD to go to work for UPS and he was so excited...his excitement made the rest of us feel his excitement also. It was a pleasure to know him.

I was so sorry to hear about Barry passing. I was his first wife. We were young and matured differently. I feel his family's pain as I lost my husband of 21 years in May of '07. Please know that I am praying for Barry and his family.

I first met Barry in 1974 at MPD during my time as a police cadet. As a youngster, I looked up to Barry as someone who always provided ample excitement during ride-alongs. A few years later, Barry did my backgroung for police officer at MPD - it turned out to be the beginnig of a great career. My thoughts and prayers are with the Schrader family.

So sorry to hear about Barry. I worked closely with him at the Police Department. He was always upbeat, cheerful about most everything and everyone he came into contact with. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I remember Barry as a soft spoken but confident cop that you wanted covering your back. Yet he was a fun loving guy, who danced on the bar at JP's when dared. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time of mourning.

I feel very fortunate to have know Barry very well. He would do just about anything you ever asked of him. The day Janet and I were married, he was one of my groomsmen. I was taken care of very well in the hours before the start of the wedding. He took care of all the details that anyone tends to forget to do on the big day. Yep, he made sure I had some whiskey shots to mellow me out and made sure I walked the plank and into married life! I loved him like a brother, and am sure many in the law enforcement family who were fortunate to know him feel the same way. I will miss him. AL Petrides

I was sorry to hear about Barrys passing. I came to work at MPD a couple of months after Barry and we attended the Police Academy together. We were among seven MPD officers in the class and all became great friends. I remember getting together at night in Barrys car and having a few beers and tossing the emptys in the trunk through an empty speaker hole in the rear deck of the car. The trunk was full by the time we finished the academy.
Although I haven't seen Barry in a few years he was one of those guys you never forget. Remember the toush contest?

I only met Barry a couple of times (as he had left the PD by the time I started) but still remember his smile and his friendliness. And I've heard stories about what a great guy he was from others here at the PD. My heart goes out to his family.

I was so very sorry to read about Barry's death. I met Barry after my brother Leo (Bobby) Volk died in 1973. They were police officers together at Modesto Police. I will always remember how kind he and his then wife Judy were to my sister in law Janet and Son Scotty. He had a great smile and he's laughter was .. if you knew Barry you know what I mean. He was a great man and I was glad to know him.
My prayers and sympathy are with you.

Barry and I go back to the day he came to work for the Modesto Police Dept. We became very good friends, did a lot of things together. Judy, Barry, Vickie and I had some real good times together. I really hated to see that end. I Miss Barry and the times we had.

So sorry for your loss. Barry took me under his wing when I was a teenage Police Explorer in Modesto. I rode with him for an 8 hour shift weekly. I thought he was the coolest.
