Modesto, California - Betty Ann Nunes, née Souza, of Modesto, passed away peacefully, with her family near, at the age of 83. A beautiful woman with a kind and loving spirit, Betty was the glue that held the family together.
Her younger years were centered around Girl Scouts, being a Pom Pom girl, being part of Catacombs Club, attending sporting events and all the school dances.
While in high school she met the love of her life, Bob, who she was married to for almost 62 years. They were blessed with three children Keith (Julie), Karen (Steve), and Kevin, and eight grandchildren, Kynlee and Race Nunes of Oakdale, Marisa, Hayden, and Griffin Genzoli of Hughson, and Noelle (Tyler), Ryan, and Sydney Nunes of Denver, Colorado and one great-grandson, Rhett Smith.
Her interests included spending time at the beach, baking for others, writing cards to her family filled with XOXOXOs, and being an active member of the Young Ladies' Institute. But at the heart of her life were her husband Bob, and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. She and Bob almost never missed a sporting event, birthday celebration, or any other activity their children/grandchildren were involved in. Family and friends meant everything to her, and she was still in contact with dear friends from her elementary and high school days.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Albert Nunes, and her parents, and survived by her three siblings.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, May 27th at 7:00pm and a Mass on Saturday, May 28th at 10:00am, both at All Saints University Parish, 4040 McKenna Dr., Turlock, CA.
