September 29, 1940 - June 18, 2023
Modesto, California - On June 18th, 2023, Bruce Allan Humke passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family who love him dearly. An enthusiastic, though not always excellent, fisherman, Bruce surely is now reeling them in with his brothers Robert (Buzz) and John. He is also preceded in death by his daughter Tiffany and parents Robert and Edith.
Bruce's spirit and joy live on in his wife Marian (nee Hills), children Jason and Kimberly (Ricci), son-in-law Chris Ricci, grandchildren Marylee, Jameson, Connor, and Henry, and countless friends, coworkers, and loved ones.
Bruce lived a life dedicated to service, family, and church. Always the first to ask "How can I help," he was the type of man who could always be counted on for a kind word, a questionably funny joke, a smile, and a big hug.
His distinctly perfect bass voice delivered the best liturgies, led countless songs around the fire at Camp Jack Hazard, where he served as a director, and provided strength and comfort to dear ones with his simple calmness and thoughtful approach to life.
Deeply committed to providing for his family and driven by a true love of being social, Bruce spent the majority of his career with Lawson Products, working until nearly the end of his life.
His dedication to others simply knew no bounds.
A memorial to celebrate Bruce's wonderful life will be held at College Avenue United Church of Christ on July 16th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Camp Jack Hazard (campjackhazard.org/donate) or College Avenue United Church of Christ (cacc-ucc.org).

I would like to add my belated tribute. I always loved Uncle Bruce's deep, low voice, how he let me walk on his feet as a little girl while holding my hands, his silly songs and good, humble nature, his faith and fortitude during grief and struggle, his sense of humor. I wish I had spent more time with him during the years but he will always be a special uncle to me and missed by us all. Lisa

Our condolences go out to his family . Bruce was a wonderful man. My husband Larry hired him as a salesman for Lawson Products and he was a very wonderful salesman. Larry enjoyed working with Bruce and they had a lot of good times. Bruce always had a sense of humor. We moved to Oklahoma and haven't been in touch these last years. May he rest in peace and our prayers are with Marian and all the family. Sendinding love to all of you.

Bruce Humke was the epitome of "selfless giving!" There was nothing he wouldn't do for another when he was able. Thinking of all the family members and his church family who will miss Bruce terribly. He has joined the CACC Breakfast Bunch how. Thank you for being you, Bruce.

A wonderful tribute to Bruce. He was a kind and gentle man. I first met him when I was 17 when I was dating his brother Buzz at Ripon College. His only fault is that he moved to California after he finished college and we didn't get to see him as much as we would of liked. We were happy we got see him two years ago in Platteville WI.
