Daniel Brideau Obituary

Daniel Brideau
September 20, 1953 - February 20, 2013
Daniel Brideau, 59 of Manteca CA passed away February 20, 2013 at Memorial Hospital. He spent his final days surrounded with the love and support of family and friends before losing his 3 year battle to esophageal cancer.
Dan was born September 20, 1953 in Gardner Massachusetts and moved to California at an early age. He grew up in So Cal in Monrovia and attended local schools and graduated in 1971.
Dan mainly worked in sales as a younger adult. The last 20 + years he has worked for Concord Foods moving up to General Manager. He opened the Northern Division when he moved to Manteca 12 years ago.
Dan met his wife Connie Vermillion Brideau 9 years ago. They enjoyed taking day trips and finding new places to hike and camp and he would capture those moments with his love of photography. He shared Connie's love of Disneyland and they would visit each holiday season. Dan was an avid reader and enjoyed 3-4 books a week. He also returned to playing the guitar last year, it allowed him to focus and relax with his love of music and not the battle he was fighting.
Dan is survived by his son Michael Brideau, his precious grandaughter Bella of Manteca; stepdaughter Kimberly Vermillion of Roseville; sister Cathy Brideau (Randy) of Washington DC; brother John Brideau (Theresa) of Running Springs; stepsister Lynn Greaver (Roger) of Myrtle Beach, SC; stepsister Patty Williams of TX and stepbrother Vic Reid of So Cal. Many cousins, nieces and nephews, and all of Connie's family who truly loved him.
Dan was welcomed at Heaven's door by his Father Ovila Brideau, Mom Isabella Reid, stepfather Stanley Reid and his special love and Meme Edna Fregeau and Pepe Elzear Fregeau.
Dan you were a power of strength; loving, kind and loyal to those who knew you and will be missed by all. Your sense of humor was unique and our kids and I will especially miss your stocking stuffers on Christmas morning. We would wonder in anticipation what quirky fun items you found for us each year.
As your wife I can't imagine my life without you, I love you so much. Your strength gave me strength through all of this and I will try and focus on that and God to get me through the hard times I know are ahead.
A gathering celebrating Dan's life will be held at their home in March. Family and friends will receive information in the near future.
In lieu of flowers; please send donations to ECAN (Esophageal Cancer Action Network) or ECEF (Esophageal Cancel Action Network).. For condolences to the family, please visit their website at www.deeganfuneralchapels.com.

Dan I miss you everyday. I can't believe it has been 12 years since you left us. I have alot of special memories of you that keep you with me. When my Dad passed 3 1/2 years ago I wondered about you reminiscing in heaven. He thought so much of you and knew you would have a nice visit. I bought a small trailer and when I use it I can feel lonely sometimes because you aren't here to share in the things we so enjoyed. Love you so much!

Dan,
Hard to believe its been over 2 years since you went to heaven. We all miss you. I think of you often, as you encouraged me to love and trust again. I took your advice. To Connie and your family, I keep you all of you prayers and hope things are getting easier. Dan was a great man.

Dan, we know that you were greeted by Mom, Stan, Meme, Pepe, Oliver, and our Danny. We know that all the pain and fear are gone now. Don't raise too much heck up there and we expect a full report on the fishing upon our arrival. We love you and miss you.

Connie, Michael and family, please accept sincere condolences from our family. Though a continent separated us, we were able to know Uncle Dan for his wit, his grin and his love of life and his family. That is the legacy he leaves behind, even if too soon. As if to prove that no deed is wasted, his late-life relationship with his sister is one we most appreciated. Cathy often remarked how much she enjoy getting to know Danny all over again. Connie and Mike, you should take credit for making those sweet memories. And for helping Dan fight the fight of his life. We should all have that courage and resilience. Dan deserved better. With our love, Randy Wert, Travis and Shannon.

Remember...meet me at the gate.
Love you always,
Connie

Dan, what a pain in the neck brother you were!! Always teasing me, short-sheeting my bed, setting up obstacle courses that would fall on my head or feet...Boy will I miss you!! Say "hi" to everyone up there and enjoy your peace, at last. Love always, your sister, Cathy
