Winton, California - David A. Lucy will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; a loyal friend to many; a gifted athlete; and an extraordinary psychologist who dedicated his long career to helping thousands of children and families.
His greatest gifts were his boundless love of adventure and competition, his rare ability to make friends wherever he went, and, above all, his deep devotion to his family.
He truly was, as he so proudly liked to say,
"The Man. The Myth. The Legend."

I was sure the second grader was gifted until Dave showed me his ten year old molars after I had convinced him to test the first Laotian boy who enrolled at John Muir boy for GATE. Great laugh of many.

From the ruins of Pompeii, to the hallowed halls of Oxford, to the streets of Manhattan and the yacht clubs of Long Island, Dave and I had many extraordinary adventures. Through it all, we became as brothers. I believe that Dave would agree with the old saying, "Tomorrow do your worst, for today I have lived."

David , I did not get the pleasure of meeting you unfortunately, but I´ve had wonderful conversations with your daughter Johanna, and she always brought you into our conversations. I can tell you she loved you so very much as did your granddaughter McKenna, so you have been very missed but now you are in the arms of our creator and I hope you are relaxing and enjoying this joyous new life. I had the opportunity to work with Dave for a few years. He was one crazy, fun and wonderful guy. If you were around Dave you couldn't help but smile. We lost a good one here. RIP my good friend.
