Donald Roy Gist stepped into heaven on December 22nd surrounded by his family.Don served in the United States Navy for 20 years.
He served in Vietnam and aboard many ships seeing much of the world as he crossed the equator. Following retirement he became a truck driver and worked for national and local companies and even owning his own truck at one point.
Don was a member of River Oaks Golf Club and he and Vivian enjoyed playing.He enjoyed camping with his family and Don Pedro Lake was often a favorite destination. He and Vivian were members of All Seasons RV Club. He attended Cornerstone Covenant Church and was active with the Cornerstone Classics.
Don was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vivian; sons Craig and Mark (daughter-in-law Olivia) and 2 grandsons, Luke and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and all of his brothers and sisters.
Burial with full military honors will be January 4 at 11:30 A.M. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm Jan. 7, 2016 at Cornerstone Covenant Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Don's name to Turlock Gospel Mission. Please share your memories at www.AllenMortuary.com.

Vivian, I am so sorry to hear about Dons passing. I know he has had a rough year, in and out of the hospital. But, we can take comfort, in knowing, has made his final journey, where he will no longer be in pain, or discomfort! He has reached his goal, that he has been striving for throughout his life, and heard those words, that we all look forward to hearing, when we take that journey, "WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVENT". I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I know God has you in the Palms of His hands, and is keeping His watchful eye over all of you. I will be talking to you soon.
