Elias Cordova Obituary

SENIOR PASTOR ELIAS CORDOVA JULY 5, 1943 - AUG. 21, 2007 CELEBRATION OF LIFE

My Pastor,

Brother Cordova was my best friend, the person I confided in 100%. For me, his departure was not a loss but one more triumph! My Pastor & Friend left the path prepared for me to continue with the ministry. Pastor Cordova also passed on to me the evangelical torch to reach souls that are lost and in need. Brother Pablo Serrato

Senior Pastor Cordova was my Spiritual Dad in the Lord and in many ways, just like a second Dad to me. He treated me just like a son. My wifa Cynthia and I loved him very much and will miss him deeply! May we continue in the Faith!

Brother Lalo Jiminez

My Senior Pastor Elias Cordova was a God loving man who didn't see the faults in one's life. If you read I Corinthians 9:22-23 the Apostle Paul writes, to the weak I became as weak, that I may win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.'' This is how my Sr. Pastor saw everyone, through the eyes of our Lord'' with the greatest of love and compassion. It was my honor to stand side-by-side with this Mighty Man of God.'' The Sr. Pastor would always say to me, Brother Carlos, Let's go forward and never stop running, let's go, brother!''

Brother Carlos Rubio

Pastor Elias Sr was a perfect example of a God fearing man. The Pastor's legacy will not be just being known as a A Great Pastor'' but his dedication for winning souls for the Lord. This was always his main focus in life. Many lives have been changed, saved and restored because of his work for the Lord. My Pastor will be missed greatly by all those who were touched by his life and ministry.

Brother Tony Cordova

The goal of every Christian should strive to be like Jesus!! My Pastor and spiritual leader had a heart just like Jesus. I, too, must strive even harder now to be like Jesus, so I may touch the lives of many as my Sr. Pastor did through Christ.

Brother Mario Jiminez

As a member of Community Praise Tabernacle and involved deeply in the Spanish Ministry at the church, my sole reason for living is to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and be a blessing to His people while I am here on earth. It has been a great privilege to have set under the ministry of my Uncle and my Sr. Pastor EliasCordova! May we who are left behind never forget his teachings and how he touched our lives personally. I shall see him and the results of a fruitful ministry everywhere I go. Missing him already!

Brother Michael Ovantes

Please join us as we Celebrate a Life well lived by our Bishop & Sr. Pastor Elias Cordova a Man of God.'' Though we miss him already, we will be successful by carrying on his ministry.

Services Monday, August 27th, from 6pm-10pm at The First Baptist Church in downtown Modesto and Tuesday, August 28th at l0 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson.

Dear Sister Cordova, our Senior Pastor's wife and family,
What a joy to have known your husband, our Bishop and Sr. Pastor.
I too shall miss him because he was easy to speak with, knew what he believed, stood his ground and in my opinion was a man of great character and faith!
Most of the Christians I know would have immediately said, Doc, do whatever it is you have to do, hook me up, open me up, but your husband passed away as he lived trusting the "Mighty God in Christ."
It is escpecially joyful to know his life will live on through the many lives he touched and the church he established with the help of the Lord of Glory!!!
Now that the hustle and bustle of trying to accept the fact Brother Cordova is gone from you and your family, the planning and preparation for services that were beautiful in every way, there will assuredly be times when you think no one is thinking about you and your loss!
When those times come and they will, because I have lived those times myself. Sister McAbee and I will not only be thinking of you, we will be praying in JESUS' Wonderful Name!
Our Lord & Savior will in many ways by someone's simple act of FAITH always let you know, "GOD is FAITHFUL."
When Jesus comes again and time shall be no more & in the Power of His Resurrection we all shall live again! Gospel of John 5:28-29,I Thessalonians 4:18 and I Corinthians 15:51-58!!!
I remember when your husband and the children's Dad told the church, you had told him you would be with him until the very end and you were!
Please take comfort in the fact that you obeyed the wedding vows you took over forty-two years ago and the Bishop knew you would be with him 'til the end!
In order for us to follow your husband's example, we too can only be faithful to the love of our life, Jesus the Christ and our companion in this life!
Watch as God moves and the church begins to grow Spiritually and numerically! "Stand by and see the Salvation of the Lord." You will be seeing the fruits of your husband's labor!!
In Christian Love,
Brother McAbee

Sis Cordova, Bro Elias Jr,Sis Karen and children.Bro Elias Sr has completed his race and there is a crown of life waiting for him.I know that there will be a void in your lifes, but it is only for a little while.Until then you must continue on this path of faith and it will not seem long before you see him again, for life is but a vapor. Be strong and stay encouraged in the Lord, run the race that is before and do what is right.

Elias
I was deeply saddened when I heard of the passing of Pastor Cordova, He made an impression on my life one day when I walked into the chapel and heard him crying out to God for each one his members by name. I will always remember that and his compassion for the saints of God. May God bless and comfort you and your family; our hope is we will see him soon on the other side.
God Bless you
