Garrett James Obituary

Garrett Andrew James
Jan 1,1985 - Feb 26, 2018
Garrett James was a kind and talented young man. As a youngster he played golf from the age of 7 mostly with his Grampa, Conrad Lang, and he won awards for golfing in high school. He loved to play the piano and write music as well. He graduated from Davis High School in 2003 and lived in Seattle for a couple of years before moving back to Modesto. He was very creative and loving. He worked as a math tutor for children, a job he really liked, and he was also a trainer and body builder for a while. He was trained in phlebotomy and worked in that field as well. Garrett worked on becoming a better spiritual person and didn't judge people but tried to see them for their true selves. He had a gentle heart and was a truly good person We love him with all of our hearts and always will. He is survived by his father, Jack James, his mother, Laurie James, his grandmother, Georgene Lang, sister, Katie Ganster (Brandon), brother, Jason James (Alicia), sister, Nicole Edeal (Brandon), and sister, Sahar Jafari-Jozani, as well as several nieces and nephews. Our world will never be the same without him.
Services will be held on Sat., March 3, 1pm at Salas Brothers, 419 Scenic Dr., Modesto.

There are no words.
Garrett was such a beautiful & sincere soul. He taught me so much, and although we didn't keep in touch too closely-I always considered him a dear friend.

Jack, Laurie, Katie & Grandma Lang,

May you find peace and comfort in the beautiful memories you have. I am so very sorry for your loss.

With love,
Samantha

Garrett I met you freshman year and you were wearing a rubber jacket that looked like it was leather. You immediately caught my attention because I figured I would make a great wing man visa versa. We went through a sieries of friend becoming tested battles like wild stallions joining forces. We became best friends. I was an amazing track star/Football player and you were a musical genius/pro Golfer. Even though we didn't hang out all the time, we were spiritually connected and drawn together like two chiefs meeting on a mountain top to discuss life. When trouble would find me you would remind me who I really was. When trouble would find you I would do the same. It's crazy how you and I would draw so much attention for doing nothing. When you let me borrow your rubber leather looking jacket I took great honor in wearing it even though it was too big. Through the years we became close, and hung out only on the finest days of each season. Our deep conversations about nothing meant everything to me. Between all the fine ladies circling around us through the music, we would exchange knowledge like nobody was there. I chose you as the best man in my wedding not only because you were my best friend, but because you had a heart of gold. They are closing down the in shape gym on McHenry. Our go to spot. Of course right?! I don't have my buddy to talk to on my long rides home anymore. I keep grabbing my phone to call you and forget your not there. I'm going to grow old without you now. I'll try to be the best man I could be. The kind of man we said we would like to become. I'll tell my daughter about the kind of friendship we had, the kind that would only stand for the better. Things will never be quite the same in my life again. My milestones meant a little more when I shared them with you brother. I pray that god shines light upon your soul and accepts you into the kingdom of heaven. I pray that your family finds peace in their heart. I'll miss you dude.

Garrett, I've known you since you were a sparkle in your parents eyes. I gave the baby shower for you and your mom. You were special and talented beyond words. You grew up into a handsome and giving man. Although it's been about 10 years since we last saw you, we remember your smile and your laughter. You will always be in our hearts.

Garret, I should of said hello more often and now wish I knew that we would some day need to say good bye. You where a friend. You brought joy and the beauty of music into my home and introduced it to my children who where so inspired by you and your talents, that they now have a love and life for music. I will miss you and your love for music and happiness. May you rest in peace my beautiful child of god. Anita Almanza

Our hearts are breaking and our tears are falling. I have such fond memories of the few times we were able to enjoy Garrett's company, once in Coronado when he was just a boy enjoying the beach and walks along Orange Avenue, and only a few years ago when we saw him as a strong, happy adult. We may not have been in Garrett's life, but he lived in our hearts and minds. We will always miss him and keep in our memories the brief joy joy gave us.

Laurie, Jack and Katy: There are no words that can be said to ease your current pain at the loss of your beloved son and brother. Please know, though, that I send my love to you at this time. May your memories bring you healing and please know that you are loved!
