Gary Allen Crawshaw passed away at his home in Columbia, CA on December 22, 2017.
Born in Modesto, CA, Gary graduated from Downey High School in 1960 and then earned his AA Degree from Modesto Junior College.
He married his wife, Maria, in 1963. He worked for Home Finance Loan in Modesto and was transferred to San Jose. Upon returning to Modesto in 1966, Gary joined the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department. He and Maria had three daughters. Gary worked the 3-11pm patrol shift while he attended Stanislaus State. He earned his BA from Stanislaus State in 1974 and graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA in 1979. During his more than 31 years with the Sheriff's Department, Gary held many positions and retired as Undersheriff in 1997.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman. He loved camping with his family and friends, and he looked forward to his annual fishing and hunting trips with his buddies. Gary really enjoyed riding motorcycles. He rode all over the Western US. His favorite ride was over Sonora Pass and down HWY 395.
Gary is survived by his wife Maria of Columbia, CA, his daughters Renee Crawshaw of Pacifica, CA and Kelli Crawshaw of Aptos, CA, his grandchildren, Arianna, Adison, and Kai, his brother Steve Sbragia, and his nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kristi Crawshaw Olson, his mother and step-father Betty and Frank Sbragia, and father Robert Crawshaw.
Private services are pending. Remembrances may be made to Hospice of the Sierra.
