Modesto, California - It is with much sadness the family of Gertrude "Trudy" Caroline Bosowski, age 99 of Modesto, CA, announce her passing on Wednesday morning, November 30. 2022.
Gertrude was born on July 17, 1923, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to John and Margaret Olejniczak. Throughout her life she was a loving and caring sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Trudy grew up in Grand Rapids during the Great Depression along with her five brothers and sisters. During World War II she sewed parachutes in a local factory to aid in the war effort. She met her future husband Stanley John Bosowski in 1940 and they were married on July 25, 1945, shortly after he was honorable discharged from the 3rd Division of the US Army following four years of combat in Northern Africa and Europe during World War II.
Along with their two sons, the family moved to Modesto, CA in 1959 where Stanley worked as a linotype operator at the Modesto Bee until his retirement in 1978. In addition to being a dedicated housewife, Gertrude enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading and taking classes at Modesto Junior College.
Despite no longer being ambulatory due to a hip fracture, Trudy was able to remain home in her final years with the help and compassion of her devoted caregivers and Community Hospice.
She is preceded in death by her husband Stanley John Bosowski, who passed away in 2007 after more than 61 years of marriage. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Linda Bosowski of Redlands; son Dale Bosowski of Modesto; granddaughter Jennifer Lobo of Redlands; grandson Bryan Bosowski of Little Elm, TX; and great-granddaughter Maddison Lobo of Santa Cruz.
She is also proceeded in death by her younger sisters Loraine (and Robert) Miller, Ruth (and Jerry) Wildbahn, Patricia (and Donald) Prusak and brothers Thomas (and Sadie) Olejniczak and Jackie Olejniczak.
Gertrude will be reunited with her beloved husband Stanley at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
