Discovered Howard's obit in the Modesto Bee while looking for another and am so sorry to hear of his passing. I believe he may be related to my ex-mother-in-law, June Davis (of Oakhurst). I got to know him and his sister Myrna while in the family.

Dear Charlotte & family,
Please accept my sincerest condolences for the sad passing of a wonderful Husband, father, friend, and physician. Dr. Huenergardt large stature and presence might have been intimidating for some. But his warm friendly smile and openness could immediately put you at ease. With Charlotte by his side, all who entered their home were welcomed and made to feel accepted as part of the family. I remember so many school events that centered around your home. As kids we knew we were in for an exciting, good time, whenever a planned event, lunch, or casual visit centered around your home and family. Dr. Hunergardt involved himself with his children and was a familiar face to many. My father enjoyed his company and assisting him in surgery whenever scheduling allowed. Having lost my father recently, I know all too well how hard the next days and years will be without him. It was apparent to everyone who knew him how much he loved his family and how much he was loved in return. It was my honor and privilege to have known him. Your family has touched our lives in such meaningful and positive ways for so many years. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. You will see bits of him shine through in both grand and subtle ways as you reach out and support each other in the trying times which lie ahead. It is a meaningful tribute to him as well as a comfort to those left behind to continue traditions and sharing stories that include him. The biggest reassurance however is knowing that this loss though devastating is temporary. One day, you will be together again, without time constraints, sadness, or goodbyes with only happy memories to make for all eternity. That knowledge and the love of family and friends will see you through.
