Jacalyn Curry Obituary
Jacalyn "Jackie" Curry died of natural causes on September 29th, 2025, at the age of 77 while surrounded by family. It was just one week before her 47th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her two sisters, and her husband and their three children and seven grandchildren.
Jackie was born and raised in Modesto, California until the age of 19 when she enlisted in the Air Force at a time when few women entered military service. She was a quiet pioneer whose 20 year career in services and in the medical field took her overseas to Turkey for her first assignment, then throughout the United States including Mather AFB in California where she met and married her husband, Kevin. Jackie retired as a Technical Sergeant in 1987.
Those who knew Jackie were impressed by her incredible inner strength, her unshakeable patience, and her love of life. She loved reading thrillers, romance novels, and historical novels and particularly enjoyed reading them on the back deck of the house while drinking a glass of champagne and enjoying views of Pikes Peak. She loved travel and most fondly remembered her trips with other loved ones including "girls" trips with her sister and niece; reunion trips with military friends; and trips to Mount Rushmore and to Washington, DC with grandkids. She loved fine dining, especially when shared with friends. But most of all, she loved time with family and got great happiness from her grandchildren while reading books, doing crafts, riding the merry-go-round at the zoo, letting them beat her at mini-golf, playing board games, and teasing them with silliness. Though often quiet, she brought joy to everyone she touched in her life and everyone who knew her will fondly remember their time with her and will miss her greatly.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on October 17th at Evergreen Funeral Home in Colorado Springs (1830 E. Fountain Blvd) followed by interment at Pikes Peak National Cemetery (10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs) at Noon. Later, family and friends are invited to attend a small, mid-afternoon casual reception at the house.
Jackie and her love of life will live on through our memories. So in lieu of flowers, please honor her memory by putting on something yellow (her favorite color) and take just a few minutes to remember and share favorite memories of her with your own loved ones. She'd probably hate all the fuss, but know that she'll be with you in spirit, laughing and remembering along side of you.
