James Hooker Obituary
September 25, 1939 - October 29, 2022
Modesto, California - James Samuel Hooker passed away peacefully at his home after battling Alzheimer's with his wife by his side. He was born to his parents: Samuel and Florence Hooker in Hayti, Missouri 1939.
He worked for Gallo Glass Co. for 38 years. He started the Training program which he was supervisor of.
He Loved his family and enjoyed Motor Homing, Camping, Computers, woodworking and helping anyone he could. Enjoyed good times with his friends. He was known as Mr Back-Up on everything but his Wife. Met his wife in 1975 and they had their first kiss on New Years Eve Dec of 1975. Married the Love of his Life on Dec. 19, 1976 in our home.
Proceeded in death was his parents, Samuel and Florence in 1965.
Living relatives are: Wife Charleen, Modesto, CA Brother Albert (Koni) Hooker, Riverbank, CA, Sister Alice Gibson (son Doug) , Fresno, Ca, Daughter Teri (Tony) Robinson of La Crosse, WI Granddaughter Ashley (Max) Sarkis, Modesto, CA Great Grandson Luke Hammond of Modesto.
Many thanks to our close friend Carroll Ollar who was helpful in Jim's care in the last few months . Also special thanks to Kristy Kauffman who was so helpful and caring in his final days.
Viewing will be Tuesday evening November 8th from 5-7pm. Salas Brothers Funeral Home 419 Scenic Dr, Modesto, CA.
Services will be November 9th at 12:00pm. Graveside following at Ceres Memorial Park, 1801 E Whitmore Ave, Ceres, CA

To Uncle Jimmy, thank you for being such a good brother to my mom, your sis, Alice Gibson. Thank you for your visits to mom and me at our home in Fresno. I remember my wanting to pay you for the moving van when you and Al and Char moved mom from Ripon to our new home in Fresno. You would not accept payment stating "She may be your mom but she is also my sister". I could not bear to tell mom when you passed on but I think she knew anyway. Mom passed away three months after your passing. Uncle Jimmy, I miss you and mom every moment of every day. With love and respect your nephew Doug Wilkinson

Uncle Jimmy was always such fun.
He enjoyed telling stories about the good old days in Modesto, working at Gallo, and RV travel adventures.
He loved and enjoyed his family
and friends. Jim & Char always made us feel welcome in their home.
Most of all Jimmy adored his beautiful wife, Char. Their love and devotion to one another was exceptional.
Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers for you, Aunt Char.

Daddy I am going to miss you so much. I still can't believe you are gone. I am so happy you got to meet your great grandson before GOD took You. He bought a big smile to your face. We have our memories of all the good times together. Ashley is going to miss her Papa Mom is heart broken. We are Family and will be there for each other. So Rest Now Daddy Until we meet again
