He then returned to Modesto and worked for Mellis Liquors.

As Christmas approaches, thoughts of our loved ones and close friends we have lost, begin to surface bringing with them a melancholy reminder of how much we miss them. Such is the case with my dear friend Jim Lamatis, who I went hunting, fishing, and socializing with for many years. We lived two doors apart at The Del Rio Country Club and saw one another virtually every day for many years.
Rest in Peace with the Lord my Dear Friend

"Uncle Jim" is a legend to us. We grew fond of he and Mary through a mutual friend and thereafter enjoyed his hunting tales and hospitality. His zest for life and love of family made an impression on us. We are so fortunate to have known him. He will always hold a special place in our hearts.
