Joanne Enochs Obituary

Joanne Carole Enochs

September 22, 1937 - December 2, 2025

Modesto, California - Joanne Carole Enochs was born in Modesto, California on September 22, 1937, to parents Ralph and Alta Siegman. She was the youngest of seven children and was preceded in death by all of them- brothers: Alden and Roby, sisters: Beth, Margie, Helen and Velma. She attended Paradise Elementary School and Modesto High School.

Carole loved animals. She was given her first horse at the age of ten. This began a life long love of horses. At 12 years of age, she joined a youth drill team, "Turlock Cavaliers" and rode with them all over California for 3 years. Her father took her to many horse related activities, which built her experience as a horsewoman. Carole competed in all phases of horsemanship. She loved the training. Eventually, she raised quarter horses, training and showing them. Carole enjoyed giving riding lessons and judging 4-H horse shows.

Carole and James C. Enochs were married August 18, 1970. They traveled to many historic places with their children and then just the two of them. Carole supported Jim in his role as Superintendent of Modesto City Schools for over 30 years. He preceded her in death in April of 2020.

Carole leaves behind son, Dennis Olson (Denise), stepdaughter, Lynn Enochs Campama (Antonio), six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews. Her two daughters, Debbie Olson McVay and stepdaughter, Juli Enochs McManis, preceded her in death.

Carole went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2025. She will be laid to rest in a private burial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in her memory to a favorite animal charity or to Covent Care Hospice of Turlock.

Love you Auntie Carole!
Used to visit Auntie Carole & Uncle Gary when we were kids. Gary used to have us run...and rope us!
Carole showed me how to milk the cow.
I kept my horse out there for a time back in the mid 60s.

Growing up at the Ranch, Carole was like my big sister in a way. I also had an everlasting love of horses. She is greatly missed.
