John Dewey Kootstra

John Dewey Kootstra, born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Samuel and Winnie Kootstra on April 15, 1927 and passed away on Tuesday, November 12, at the age of 86, at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, CA. John also lived in Fresno, Modesto, and Ripon. After service in the Navy, he moved to Modesto where he met his wife Alice Kramer, and was married for 62 years. In addition to his work as a carpenter, he also had a small farm in Modesto on Dakota Ave. He was a member of Modesto Christian Reformed Church, until joining the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church after moving to Ripon. He is survived by his wife Alice, one brother Lewis, and three sisters Hilda Wever, Helen Shipley, and Esther Heersink; his daughter Linda (Patrick) De Jong, his sons Ken, Bob (Marie),  Rod (Vicky), Darrell (Carla), and Brian (Laura); 18 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 18, at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, in Ripon.
